The DSA are currently booking tests for mid-November. December will soon be round the corner, we have a few slots available so we are in a position to get you passed sooner rather than later. This applies to both manual and automatic.

Independent Drive

Independent driving will become part of the practical driving test in October 2010.

During the driving test, the candidate will be asked to drive for about 10 minutes, either following a series of directions, following traffic signs, or a combination of both. To help the candidate be clear about where they’re going, the examiner may show them a diagram too.

I feel that this is a postive move in the driving test as when pupils pass their test, they no longer have an instructor giving directions. Don’t worry if you don’t remember every direction, or if they go the wrong way - that can happen to the most experienced drivers.

On your next lesson with your instructor, pick a location, see if you can get there without directions from your instructor. I tend to pick locations like childrens hospital as the hospitals are well signposted, or Meadowhall if you love your shopping?

Observer on Test

From April 2010 to DSA have announced the learner drivers will be encouraged to take their driving instructor with them on their driving test (sat in the back as an observer). We think this is a postive move and something that learners should take advantage of.

You will see Akmal driving in the city as he has a fantastic blue Mini, which is great to drive (I didn’t want to get out of the drivers seat when I drove it!).
